Now, we people, customised to think, these happenings are almost a natural event
with the conjugated and concocted acts of big power houses and politicions. We are very much conscious and distressed to find our country on much top in world order in this respect. Sadly peoples who are voted to power, are not probably not much concerned about it, otherwise why there would be no rapid and exemplary punishment for the culprits! It is not denied Govt. provides much budgetary allocation for welfare measures for the upliftment of the peoples living below poverty line. But the effect of its spending
do not reach the expected level at any time. The result, it runs as an unending programme with repeated allotment for these purpose. Why Govt. or the responsiblle deptt. causes an impartial enquirry to find the truth! The fact is, almost entire chain of implementation in someway or either responsible for this. The coordinated power is the biggest hurdle in the way of the govt. So the fullproof bpl list can not be prepared till day or the subsidised housing plan does not reach the real needy
in many cases. In all these cases loyalty to a particular party or other matters, the
reality and necessity ignored. These deprived poors are being misled and utilised
to increse the influence and power base by some revolutionary party and some states viz. west bengal, Bihar, Jharkand etc are a prey to endless disturbances. What peoples see in the village? They see their own people involved in party politics gradually turning into moneyed man, their mud houses turning into pucca(concrete)house, they are riding motor cycle when their original source of income has not changed at all. The only difference between them is an active participation in party politics. Hence jealousy, rivalry etc. are polluting congenial atmosphere in the villages.A good impartial governance of the govt. is the need of the day and Govt. should come forward with firm hand to establish this. Wrong doers must be booked and punished with rapid court. We must not forget that every hungry stomach is a potential
human bomd. The scam stars and their scam ship must be destroyed by the govt.
Here is story(fact). the name of this young graduate is Ranabir(name changed). He was a dedicated party man and active participant in all political programmes. He was a good organiser and believed in ideologies of the party and propogated it through masses. Now his real self struggle stared for a job. He tried and tried but found none. The reality now came to him and he approached door to door to his known faces. But nobody could help him excepting some dreamy talks. This boy ultimately took up the profession of a driver with the hope, some day he will have his
own car and his good days will return. Yes, he could purchase a second hand car and after long struggle could place the car in an office on rental basis. Here begins his second realisation. He required to change the title of the car and honestly he submitted his papers. But his case remains unattended for a long period. He attented the respective office for persuation of his case. Now his ideology jarked to hear that
he requires to pay the fee and ....,Then only the case shall be through. The poor boy
again went door to door but got nothing except sympathy. His one time pol.connection
even came to no help. The story ends. Probably he is trying to be realistic in this unwarranted situation as corruption matters, dream shatters.

Kolkata,West Bengal- Seized

Have U travelled the new & old kolkata roads, walked along footpath on any purposeless, but pleasure trip? If the answer is yes, then U must have noticed how kolkata roads, footpaths are being seized by political parties & their hookwinks. Yes, political parties, those supposed to govern the state after being on power, its progress, prosperity along with enactment of laws for the state & its people, are themselves indulging in seizing road flanks, foothpaths to build party office, clubs and lastly business shops etc. Do anyone thinking of grabing prominent place on footpath or prime road flank, no matter, find a planted tree.nonauspious of course, slowly turn this tree a god place lighting candle. incense sticks & other processes as practised regularly, U have succeeded in your plan. U will find peoples , on way to office, works started paying homage & the hookwinks slowly but steadily build mandir, thereafter grab the footh path, roadflank for small shops, trading houses completeily ignoring laws, peoples interest. Surprisingly no administrative authorities take any action against such illegal activities. The reasons are best known to them & the act of nonaction also best known to them. The harrasement of public, traffic system is probably a secondary issue to the govt. These problems, intensifies with time & ultimately becoming the biggest hurdle in any developmental works of future. Nobody ever thinks, these peoples are evading salestax, incometax which ought to had been deposited in govt.exchequer. In case of any eviction, rather govt. & all political parties equivocally plead for their compensation from taxpayers money. Such activities are encourageing to seizure of kolkata foothpaths, roadspace etc. Personally i have travelled all major cities of india, i have not seen such things there. In case of some stray cases as in gujrat, bangalore, hydrabad the administration took stern steps against it & recurrance of such incidents stopped. Here in kolkata political goodwill & boldness of administration are extremely sagging. Hence these activities are encouraged & peoples find this place a land of despotism and seizure.
The new kolkata is slowly under sieze along vip road, Rajarhat road(the worst hit from joramandir to new town crossing) & upcoming Jyoti basu nagar matching people density along the stretches. Unless political parties, govt. machinaries react right now against such encroachers , someday kolkata wil be a doomed hut of rotten politics. All should pray for kolkatas rejuvination as it is our own place, our own country of hope, dream & its fulfilment.

West Bengal- a turning desert for industry

It started in singur and now it is being finished in sankrail, Howrah. Yes, this is the happening in west bengal, a place of exceptional political dramas in the union of india. Industry requires land which again requires to be acquired on proper compensation to the to the owners of the land. Both the processes of acquisition and compensation are governed by laws and mutual discussions between the parties. There may be some or more complications, which also desired to be sorted out in the interest of progress and prosperity of state, India. Are the west Bengal people seeing this ? The answer is no. Here some party proposes, the opposition disposes. The industries silently leaves. West Bengal remains in static west Bengal.

All politics of land acquisitions are concerned with evicted peoples and all political parties want them as their vote bank capitalising their grivances, be whatever it may. None seems to come out with pacifying offerings to fulfil both the purposes. The entire demonstrations, movements done on schrewd politics of gaining mileage in politics. It is fact, in West Bengal things are a bit difficult because here in case of a mass acquisition, the nos of owners are so high, may be one or each have three or four kottahs of right in land within such acquisition. Therefore it is not practly possible to satisfy all while Govt. goes for such acquisition. Here begins the politics, a politics of retardation of progress, prosperity. The ideal case of such example is singur where a virtually ready to production factory had to leave West Bengal. What did the peoples of this state got ! Nothing, but an indecent picture of political arrogance, fist twisting amongst political parties & their calculation of political advantage. What a luck for West Bengal & its peoples. What politics of progress & prosperity should be, showed by Gujrat, another state of west bengal. What Gujrat can do, we can not do. Why ? Because there progress & prosperity matters, but here politics matter, progress & prosperity on litters.

Leaving aside all in between stories, come to sankrail, a place in Howrah, where a railway coach factory schewled to come up, has been stopped on very surprising grounds

by again on political agitation. The land was acquired long back by the state Govt, & was handed over to railway authirities for their purpose. The railway authorities went for construction there. Since a long time has passed between acquisitin & constructions, some peoples have unauthorisedly encroached in the land and living there, who now wants compensation, service, alternative arrangements for them before being evicted. It is equally surprising they have their patronage from political party and they are directly supporting them. The surprising tragedy is that those who are punishable for unauthorised encroachments of Govt. land, are being supported for illegal demands just to pay back in reverse coin of political advantage of their against. Again politics matters, progress & prosperity on litters.

In West Bengal almost all Govt. lands, footh paths, road flanks, canal sides etc, etc are under unauthorised occupation with the patronage of all political parties areawise on their strength &power. Most of these peoples are chance seekers, migrated poors, who become political partie's commited voters , meeting crowders of the parties in liew of their supports. These peoples never pay taxes in any forms, but doing business on land, footpath completly free with a vibrant attitude. They contribute nothing for the state, but sucks the tax payers money in the unforeseen, unforgetable political scnerio of West Bengal. Sometimes it is felt, West Bengal is turning to be the Dustbin of Indian union. Thanks to West Bengal politics & its parties.

Political friends, have you really have anything to give for this poor state any more ! Industry houses have tasted the real taste of India and West Bengal is a far behind scene to them.

Political movement-- now & then

The caption of this topic relates for a period of the present situation in the country. To come to my opinion, i shall go about forty years back on the same topic & what was the picture of a movement at that time for any specific cause & its achievement in that context.
India started its movement against british rule for independence & the main role was played by Gandhiji. Gandhiji believed in nonviolance and his followers also adopted the same way for movements against the british rule for independence of India. The entire mode of the movements were nonviolence & noncooperation to achieve the cause. The entire movement was so idealised that subsequently other countries in the world and their leaders, when necessiated, followed the same form of movement to achieve their purpose. The atrocities on peaceful movements, sometimes by the british rulers, gave rise to discontent amongst some of the staunch followers of this movement and some form of violent movements cropped up here & there. But the entire movement was motivated with selfless desire to free their mother land. These leaders & their followers never thought of communal disharmony, caste etc but only thought of peace, harmony, prosperty, equal rights for all in this country. Many leaders laid theirs lives for this cause & we respect them as matryers. So was the movement & commitment of the leaders & political parties at that time. There after longtime has passed, india freed & our own people took governance of the country & the responsibility of its future prosperity. But still after sixtithree years of independence , poverty, health, education, two square meals are the biggest concern of the country. The development so far achieved are not well spreaded. As a result problems of unemployment, gurantee for food, health care, education etc vary from state to state. Migration from one state to another for survival causing peoples density problem for better developing states. Capitialising all such problems, numerous regional parties formed in state to state to fight these problems. In democracy it is a continious process and there should be any question regarding this. But the mismatch interests, ideology & the path to development amongst national & regional parties are so different, that a harmonic development atmosphere can not be achived. Scruplous politics taking advantage of this situation with terrorism, arsons, killing innocents in the name of political rivalary , fuming adivasis, poors and utilising them in the name of political movements. Politics of negative value for the cause of the self, power and party are todays political movements. We have failed to carry out the legacy, moral
ity of our forefathers what they taught us with their lives & movements. Now political movement means strike, cease to work, road block, rail block, destroying govt. properties, killing innocents in the name of political rivalry, terrorism etc, etc. When we need to grow, we are victims of back track politics and its movements.
Cant we thing of a better india with value based politics and political movements!

Investigative journalism

Recently I attended one seminar on prolonged peace & harmony in the society. It was attended by eminent scholars from different sections of the society. The seminar was arranged by a local organisation on the context of present situation of the country more so on the increasing trend of violance, hatred and religion linked terrorism with the intention of giving a message of peace in the society.

The hall was packed up and i was pleased to see such an unusual crowed to hear such an unusual topic. Eminent personalities from different sections and religions came to deliver speech. All of them found to be equally concerned on the present treand of the society and expressed their opinion for peaceful coexistance and discard all forms of violance, hatred in the name of religion and not to be distracted or influenced by any distorted progation of religion by any individual, party or anyother else. Any religions in this earth never teaches violance, hatred but speaks of peace, tranquility, co-existance on mutual help to each other and love, respect for all the sons of god. We may believe in different religions, but all roads leads us in the same ultimate eternal destination. Nobody supported the present situation and unanimously requested the audience to rise to defend the situation and spread this message at all corners.

The president of the meeting summed up the entire proceedings with a question! When all of us so concerned and even understands it all, then why such things happens so frequently and why these matters get so publicity and sometimes glorified in the name of justice!

The answer also came from him. Religion has been politicalised and is utilised as a tool to fool the mass uneducated peoples and for selfish purposes by some dishonest propogator of religions. We have to identify and isolate these unholy peoples from the society to achieve sustainable peace amongst us.

The responsibility of journalists begins from here. Normally such incidents are so vividly publicised that public hatred starts fuming and here begins the politicalisation of religion and race for advantages, personnel gain by the unholy propogator of religions. Those who are arrested in such cases are normally innocents. They have been instigated by some head behind the screen, the real culprits, get scott free.

The journalists have the prieveledge to go anywhere , independently enquire the

real scenerio and the brains and its motive. Then they should come out, expose these leaders before the countryman so that we, the peoples of the country can recognise these selfish. illmotived leaders and upsurge democratically for their punishment.

India begins at Bihar

The election in Bihar is over. Caste, minority economics, on which usualy Bihar elections were fought earlier, has been rejected by the peoples of Bihar and the theme of progress and prosperity has been accepted. Nitish kumar, a silent worker approached the people of Bihar for their support on the basis of work he has done and the development he could do within his term, and also his vision for his state and its peoples. He never wanted vote on caste,
minority terms , which has so far paid nothing to Bihar and its peoples. The results
of the vote indicates that Indian peoples are maturing and the caste, minority politics will not be accepted by them. Gujrat showed the way and now Bihar has come forward. The days of shrewed politicions, who used to bank on caste, minority vote bank politics and not on development of the state, are over. The problem of this country, is hunger, unemployment, poor medical facilities and poor infrastructure etc. If all these are sincerely attended, the
cheap politics of caste, quota, minority will be vanished. Hats off to the peoples of Bihar, they have succeeded to corner those politicions .
The main problems of indian peoples are illiteracy, hunger, shelter, health and an unbalanced
growth of wealth which has divided India within India , and most of the politics are essencially exploitayion this situation and the these poor mass. In swami vivakanandas wors,
the downtroden, the oppressed of Bihar has risen and understood the goods and evil, and set an example for us, the people of India.
Let us rise and pick the way of development and the peoples who think of the same. Bihar shows the way.

Politics- desected

What is politics ! It is the ethical rules and principles on which a country / state is governed. I can remember, when Gujrat was extremely disturbed, the then PM of India advised the then CM of Gujrat to go by the rajdharma (the duties of a king towards its peoples) ie. the ethical principles and rules on governance as head of the state. It is in my knowledge, a best example, what the politics is and what it should be.
With the passage of time and devoid of genuine patriotric politicians, the politics are becoming an organisation of power crazy peoples who want to grab power either in state or in center for more than their own purpose rather than national purpose, that what it should be.
I apprehend the present day politicians will disagree with me and in the event of any scope, they may try to malign me. I am not a reputed man and i am not a political player also, hence I believe, as a general public i have every freedom to express my view. Why do i say like this ! I am a resident of west bengal and i am seeing west bengal politics from my young age to date ie. for about forty years. I have seen one CM in a coalition Govt.to be hackled in the floor of the assembly by the people of the same govt. The hackled cm was a dedicated gandhian politician. He could not probably sense the ugly nature of politics as his dedication never taught him ,that politics can be so ugly. Thereafter we saw bloody politics in west bengal in the name of naxal. I remember distinctly, our guardians were so frightened that they would not allow us to stay out of home for any extra time beyond our routine schedule and allowed us to go beyond our own known locality. That was a theory based politics and due to this lots of young promising lives lost. Had that been a real indigeonous political agenda on the ground level experiance, such precious lives would not had been lost Thereafter we saw politics of destruction ie. destruction of govt. properties in the name of movement. A poor country like us who creates wealth on extreme hardship on state exchequer, saw how easily politicians destroy it with Goyabolian propoganda. I know my understanding of the facts at that age may not match the then political movements , but i understand one thing, when something is achieved after extreme hardship that should be protected and for further something a constructive movement should be generated. But did we saw anything like that here in west bengal ! Thereafter we saw indiscriminate killing of peoples in the name of class enemy. We never thought all people can not be same and someone who by dint of his merit, hardwork achieved more than others, have done it by their efforts , dedication, hard work etc. They can never be a class enemy and target. If they exploit the society for their only gain, then only that should be fought on logical and rightful manner. But it went on otherwise in the name of class struggle causing extensive irrepairable damage to this state. This state saw industries were being closed down, capitals were flown out of this state and all progressive developmental works stopped. West Bengal progressively became a barren land where only political movements counted at the cost of the development of the state. The politicians at that time definitely hoped something good out of their politics but did they really found anything better subsequently! It can be realised from the olds who were young at that time. According to them the politics were merely for politics and for grabbing power by the politicians. Can this be termed as right politics ! Politics which in long run do not pay, uplift, advance the state and its people is not politics but an unhealthy power game for power. Today education has enriched our young generations and things are very clear to them. The social conditions have also changed. Now merely oratoring or propogating something will not be accepted by these young generations. What they find is awful, They find a lot of unscruplous purposeful peoples who are shouting to fool the peoples for more of their purpose rather than their country. They are disgusted and always hoping to find someone who will care for their causes and country. But is there any politicians like this in our land. I do not know the answer. But we may believe there are good honest dedicated and very educated people still in politics, but very few of them are in focal point of todays politics.
Again for the last two / three years , we find only negative politics in our state. If one party proposes something, the opponent opposes it with all power. Who are the sufferers ! The present day generations. We failed miserably to control population. we need employment for the young educated generations. But without caring for it. we find an impasse between rival political parties. Is it for the good of the people of this state! It is so sad to see even the educated politically consscious peoples are also ignoring the present day need and helping the state to dry up for reasons they know better. Education makes people refined and they should come up above politics when the greater interest of the state is concerned with a broader mind and commitment to the society. We are afraid about the future of our children. All should come forward and think unitedly for this poor state and its peoples.

OH ! KOLKATA

Extreme hot weather is passing for the last few days here in kolkata. The temp. is around 40 deg. C and humidity is around 90 to 95%. Everybody trying to find sheddy road or shelter under big trees to take rest. This is the picture of the roads, as i see from the road side balcony of my house. I do not understand why the climate is changing so rapidly and what is there stored in our future. This year , unlike other previous years. winter was very chilly and lengthy which definitely everyone enjoyed. But nobody expected such harsh summer equally here. For the last few years, weather in kolkata was deterioating progressively and except some few peoples nobody seemed concerned about it. Due to rapid urbanisation all big trees in and around kolkata are being cut down, small and big ponds are being filled up, extreme pollution from the emission of cars, taxis, autos, busses etc deterioated the environment and climate in kolkata. River Ganga, which we Indian worship as mother, has become a dumping ground in and around Burrabazar and some adjoining areas of kolkata. In Burrabazarareas, where peoples from adjoining states come for works, use foothpath as makeshift home and river ganga as their toilet. There are so many ghats (bathing and sitting place ) along the eastern side ofganga. These were constructed by the Babus (moneyed man ) and all kinds of peoples were in the habits of sitting and spending time in the evening hour. But, now these places are unapproachable and has become the shelter of road dwellers, unholy business and above all most unhygienic and nasty. So it is hardly possible to go and sit there to breath a bit fresh air any more. Acute water problem is a normal event here in this extreme dry days. Water is free here in kolkata. You find road side taps either broken or open and water is being wasted with nobodys concern. The roadside dwellers use and damage it and they do not care for the problem at all. So precious water is lost and sufferings of the city dwellers( tax payers) are aggravating. The make shift kitchen in the footpath uses these taps and its adjoining areas as their own premises and dump their waste along road kerbs. As a result the drains are chocked and roads are water logged due to losing of drainage capacity. It is not understood why no action is taken against all these unlawfull works. The foothpath, in almost all busy commercial areas , occupied by hawkers. They have made their shops with filthy polythene, bamboo structures and there is no space left for the pedestrains. In case of any protest, protester likely to be manhandled. The govt. losing money on their business as they donot pay any tax either as salestax or incometax. Ironically, the govt. also do not bother about all these. The whole trouble is borne by the civic (tax payers) peoples. Again, kolkata has become a dumping ground for all plastic items. But what are all these plastic items ! We find numerous small plastic packets of ghutkas, panmasalas (intoxicating powder/ dust) scattered along roads, foothpaths everywhere. Peoples are in the habits of throwing these packets everywhere. If it is noticed, the garbage collected and dumped in dhapa or elsewhere, is full of with these packets. Moreover other plastic packets as are now used in stead of bags (as are in earlier days) dumped everywhere. These are the main cause of chocking up of drains and sewers. Every year, after one or two showers, the authorities speak against its use and then again everything goes as usual. Why these things are not stopped at the root, cannot be understood at all. These are injuring the health of a nation, but there is no action against it from any corner. Simply displaying advertisement will not serve any purpose. These materials should be entirely banned in the market including its production. The business lobby shall be offended, but they should be requested to shift their business to some other healthy products in phased manner. Such indiscriminate use and throw of these articles may be brought under fine and imprisonment, There is another extreme nuissance commited by peoples here. They use any place as urinal and toilet without any care. This is extreme shameful for a civilized nation like us.Unless peoples are conscious about it, strict laws to be enforced against such acts. Over and above all good willed civic peoples should come togather and protest against making kolkata a nuissance ground and destroying its environmental balance by indiscriminate cut and felling down of trees, destroying its waterbody so that the situation now appearing can be averated. We are hopeful, the changed scenerio in kolkata municipal corporation will take up these issues with right earnest.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://udayan.pranayan.org/2010/06/oh-kolkata.html' title='OH ! It is a very good ad. on a very good subject. In fact the deliberations in the ad. is perfect and have no contradictions with the real life stories. How I come to this conclusion, may be a matter of discussion. But I can tell you one or two stories , as was told by my one friend(real life events) which strengthened my views.
My friend was an engineer and served in different capacities within a state of India. In course of his service life, my friend was once engaged in the construction work of a big hydraulic structure, which involved so many complicated problems during construction. It is ovious and routine in a construction job but definitely possible to be tackled within the means and clauses of tender. My friend , as a young devoted engineer, tackled all problems without any extra expenditures and successfully completed the structure. This fuelled anger with the construction co. and some of big bosses. Since the construction was in running water, there was ample scope of fabrication of inputs and outputs, which the construction co. and some of the officers desired. Pressure was mounted on him including offer of handsome dividents which he refused. He stated he was young, and morally obligated to the society, and his country and hence could not work the way they desired. As a result he was transferred in a very remote place. He thought, this was the price he paid for his incompetency to be a part of the ring.
The second incident was while he was a pretty senior officer. Some top officials wanted him to settle a chronic problem in a very troublesome place. It was a very big job . The preparatory works to start the job ran smoothly. The problem started three or four days before tender issue date. So many phone calls desireing personnel meeting came to him. He politely avoided. He said, he had a very good young team with him. He compleated the issuance of tender papers strictly as rules and clauses of tender. There was a chase amongst companies to please or satisfy some or other including my friend so that formation of any evil ring is ignored by him with the behest of some or others. He avoided everything and did not bent on any pressure. Two days before dropping of tender, he was manhandled in his chamber and ultimately had to be admitted in hospital. He paid the price of not being a part of the evil racket. Thereafter, he went on leave and spent about five months in utter distress. He said, one of the officer (not engr.) threatened him to obey and follow the normal but unwritten rules , so that works do not get disturbed. He could not follow his instructions and hence marked as a rebel officer and subsequently condemned as a nonfunctionary. My friend said, majority respected officers, supported and stood by his side. He never understood, how a handful of minority dishonest peoples were so powerful and wherefrom they got this strength !
It is only two incidents , as he stated out of so many he faced in his life. The Ad. says, we give and so they are tempted to be dishonest. I absolutely agree with this observations. But the receiptant end, if not mentally strong enough and can avoid the lust of some extra benefits, corruption can notbe stopped.
This is probably the main disease in Inda. This main disease of the society can be stopped with selfconsciousness of each and every individual as well as society as a whole.

Two stories of begging.

I am single & retired. I have enough time. Sometimes, i do not know, how to spend such long time alone in my room. Peoples, when aged, normally goes under the care of other family members and not allowed to live their free lives like in their early days and time, for extra care by their loved ones. So, i even do not find many friends with whom i can spend sometimes gosssiping. Sitting alone in the room, i think at random. Sometime i go out, walk at random to shed my extra calories which give me extra fun and pleasures occationly. I go to nearby railway station and spend time there. Running trains, its passengers are all very colourful time pass for me. Different types of peoples can be seen here. Here, in subarban stations of kolkata, platforms are occupied by makeshift stalls, hawkers, beggers and nobody bothers for the passenger amenities. Infact, i find my boredom bit less when i go there and sit for some times.
In course of my such time passing, i could find other five aged men who are also habitual comer here for the same purpose. I became friendly with them slowly and thereafter station, hawkers, beggers were our time pass including gossiping. I used to notice a very particular widowed old woman begging, sitting in the subway everyday. Her face, her attitude and her dress seemed to me very different from other beggers. I felt curious day by day. She never asked for any money from anybody, but daily commuters used to give her money and even used to ask her about her health and other problems. This is very much exception than normal. In spite of her begging, she was always dignified by her attitudes. One day i asked my new friends whether they can say anything about her. One of the gentleman told, this lady has two sons who are employed and live in their parental house here. Everything was fine with her. But soon after marriages of her sons, she was driven out and now she spends life begging and sleeping in makeshift slum in the station premises. The climax of this story is, her two sons everyday gives their mother some money while going to office and take her news too, but they never take her back to home for reasons, may be assesed. I was very painful and thought how God made her alone inspiteof having and depriving everything she ought to had get in this world. We are born alone, we live alone, we die alone . The love, bondage between mother & son and even friends are nothing but a illusion in this world.
Now another gentleman narrated his experience which he saw in his early days of life. He was about thirty years at that time. He was posted in a office at moulali in kolkata at that time. He stated , everyday in his tiffin hour, he used to come down to foothpath for tiffin. He noticed that one man , everyday, drunken, quarreling with one woman and at least six children loooking at him. This scene was very irritating for peoples like us and also the shop owner. Oneday he asked the shopowner-what is the story! The shopowner said, this man is a rickshaw puller, residing in this foothpath slum with his wife and six children. The wife works in six houses as domestic help . These six children of them begging in the streets. This man is a habitual drunkard and do not give any money to the family. Rather want money from wife which his children bring on begging. I surprisingly told the shopowner, how a man like this can have so many children and what is the logic! The shopowner smiled and said, if one child bring ten rupees, then six children would bring sixty rupees. This is a fair income compared to their expenditures. Hence they become happy as many children as they can have for this reason. I could not say anything and left with a nightmare about the class, quality and volume of population of India in near future.
This is not the end. Another friend narrated something which is very classical example of business through begging. This gentleman used to work in slum development cell of the Govt. department. He said in course of his service, he found two beggers who used to reside in a slum with extreme amenities which was posssible to arrangeable there. Their income were very handsome and they claimed themselves non needy and happy through their business. He asked them- why they live here ! They replied, the money they earn through begging , is lended in interest within these slum dwellers and they get very hand some return out of it. They can not leave this place for their business. They are happy. They even stated, what was not possible in service after achieving a goood education, they are earning it through begging and subsequently doing business with this money, also helping these slum dwellers and of course. they are profitting out of it. My friend said, that day i could see another world of business and style of exploitation for the poor by the poor and decided not to entertain any begging.
I still go to platform and spend time with the hope to see and discover my India at this best place.
,

Moral Relativism

The congress and Trinamul jote(front) which started in the last lok sava election here, now broken and both the parties contesting coming municipal elections on their own strength. Trinamul supremo declared in press conference that she was hopeful and tried her best for adjustment of seat sharing, which congress did not respond. The people of west Bengal will give befitting reply to this . She is confident to get overwhelming majority in these elections.
What congress say ! Trinamul offered them only twentyfive seats that too where their chances of defeat is maximum. They demanded about fifty seats which Trinamul did not give them. More over trinamul declared their candidates without going for any conclusive discussions with congress. The treatment meted out to congress is humiliating and disrespectful. The congress , as a national party could not adjust with such behaviour.
Trinamul supremo may think that she will come to power on her own strength and she does not require anyones support to come to power, is utterly her misconception. She is fighting for this purpose for long but she failed miserably till now. She should understand only because of jote (front) with congress, they could get that much seats in last loksava election. After loksava election, we often find her very arrogant, proudy and even disrespectful to her fellow politicians, parties. This is , no doubt, very bad for her. She dreams of being CM of west Bengal in 2011, where she requires to be above all these qualities.
Peoples are disgusted, bored with left parties, no doubt. But people never found any alternative against them. As a result west bengal has had to sufer for long. The way municipal elections are going tobe contested without any front with congress , may be presumed to be , history will repeat for both the parties again. Lots of negative politics had and have been done by all parties.
Peoples understand everything. Today is gone with expectation of some good news, which never came. But i am never disappointed as i know there is another tomorrow again in life. I prayed to God for next tomorrow, let this be a good tomorrow. I have cultured my mind to remain in peace at any condition and i went to bed with that peace to see my next tomorrow again.
I woke up at six in morning and went for routine morning walk, met old friends, talked to them and came back. As usual i took up the news paper along with a cup of morning tea. The start of my tomorrow came with a very shocking news as caption in the paper. A devastating fire broke out in a very old building and at least forty two lives lost in that. Several bodies have been charred beyond recognition. Some tried to escape by jumping from sixth floor but injured so badly that they died. I was very much saddened and I never expected my tomorrow to begin thisway. I went to switch on the tv and it was a breaking news there with all details. It was so shocking to see that the lives lost were mostly youngs. These youngs souls were working in different offices in that building and after the fire broke out some tried to escape through emergency door, but couldnot as the same never opened. The very painful part of it is that one of the decessed joined in service only on yesterday.
I was lost in my mind. These young boys and girls and others who lost lives had an expectation from tomorrow. But that never came in their lives and their tomorrow was their ends in this beautiful world shattering hopes, loves of their near and dearones.
The rest of theday passed very coolly. I had my routine call from my loving son and daugther in law. I hoped they will give some cheerful news. But their tomorrow was also very routine and I feel they are also definitely looking forward for their next tomorrow with hope and desire.
Chasing tomorrow is like a mirage in the desert and of course, if it would not happened to be like this , mankind would not had been running and creation would had stopped.
Just at the end of my day, late at night, I received a phone call from one of my seniors and i was so delighted to know that his young son who is a Doctorate in statictics and now in usa has been awarded there and he is the first indian to receive such award. My soul was was delighted with joy and I could think, tomorrow has its own song mixed with sorrows, joy and we shall never be deprived by chasing him and today or tomorrow(again) surely bring good news for all of us to make our life cheerful .

young & the old

The realisation of the caption of this subject , probably, cannot be heartly understood`until someone is above sixty and superannuated from service. In India, peoples retire from service at the age of sixty and the very next day he suddenly realises he is old, whatever may be his health condition, mental condition or anything like that. In family he gradually become a redundent man and fit for all scrap works and dejected for active opinion in the family affairs unless he is pretty lucky with his descendents and has strength in financial contribution in the day to day run of the family affairs. I know, some may contradict this view and in that case, i will rather say they are very lucky with their close ones and have been forbiddden by God to realise such harsh truth.
But why does such sudden change of conception comes up in the family, is a matter of prolonged discussion. But the general theory that is talked about , is, since an old is not adoptable to modern ideas, life, thinking etc, etc. That means the the new generation, descendents feel, what they do, think etc. are all modern and asper modern day reality which the olds are not accustomed to and will interfeare in their smooth life. Hence keep them dejected rather going for confrontation. Here is something very basic. The moral education imparted to a child in a family from birth upto grown up stage is same in the standard way of life. But the same thing when repeated by an old in certain circumstances within the family meet with severe oppose and critisism sometimes. It is ridiculous to find , how a basic knowledge of morality meet with such critisismwhen told by an old. This is impatience or anything else! No doubt, the present day young generations are running like mad for more and more and the excess pressure, stress and strain causing impatience, intolerance in them and its way out finds in a safe zone of old dears probably.
To live in peace in mind, remain happy with what you have. If something is achieveable, proceed steadily but not with excessive hurry, stress and strain. It is to be remembered , every action has its equal and opposite reaction. The damages caused by this excessive stress and strain may not be felt now, but when it will revert back, it will take away all the laugh , peace and tranquility of mind. The need in limited according to the limitation of the body and soul. Try to help yourselves and others and be complacent when in stress. Be patience to rival and deal very coollywith him . Every step in life must be modest with proper respect to each and all. Take good and experianced advice which are tested in life. Unnessary stress and cat race may lead to dark hole of life. Goods are always good and when comes from an old should never be dejected. Think, someday, all will be old and the following generations if not taught right or wrong,it will revert back the same way.

King & his kingdom

I retired from a class-A engineering service two years back. I had to wait for more than one year and still waiting for my revision of pay and allowances etc. and whenever i went to the respective office, i was told- it will take time, then again it will take time and then, what will you do with money, you have enough, think for the poor! Disgusted, irritated, i came out and walked down the footpath in the scorching rays of the sun, bewildered in the land where i was born and now waiting to die respectfully.
I am unable to walk down the footpath, as i dont find it. I asked one pedestrain walking or trying to walk- i dont find footpath, whether he can help to find it. He looked at me with a red eye and told- there is a strip, you old guy wont find it, better you walk down along the road proper but not in the middle, then you may face accident. I asked him politely- but there should be a footpath, and i saw it in my early days. The man now laughed and told me, i am old enough so dont know that the footpath has been occupied long back by the poors. I replied , then what is the administration doing ! The man replied, administration is a tool of Rajas (king), Maharajas(super king) , if Raja Maharaja dont use this tool, the tools remain reluctant and ineffective, so is the case here. I told him , but my right to walk down the footpath without being harmed is also a duty to be seen by the Raja, Maharajas. He replied, there is an examination for Rajas, Maharajas and also for would be Raja, Maharaja called election. Every one now preparing for this examination by way of giving footpath to the poor for one rupee to get ninety nineyears lease ,distributing land free of cost, keeping jobs reserved for the poor etc, etc. I became puzzled and asked the man, then what i am or you, sir ! At this time , the man became morrose and replied, we had education. we come from upper caste families and we are struggling to get the same things through hard work, education, refinement of knowledge, contributing to the development of the motherland, but with diminishing facilities, because our ability to contribute to the result factor of this examination is much less than these people. I told, but someday these treatments may lead to a revolt by these educated, uppercaste people. The man replied, these peoples wont revolt, because their inner knowledge, education, heritage wont allow them to behave in this way. Hence " Ma vai" (do as you like). I was very much saddened and trying to think what is really happening here. Is it the achievements the freedom fighters wanted in free India! Are not all citizens have equal rights here. Is it any fault to be born in upper caste family, going for good education to compete in competetive world! Why people of less merit will be faciliated in the sphere of higher education, science, technology! Is it really good for the country at all. Are not the people being divided in these factors and what is the ultimate fate! Where has gone the basic words, equal rights, equal opportunities even after sixty three years of independence. Why the politics are so filthy here. why politics has become the easiest way to be rich, powerful in stead of self less service to the peoples. Why indias population growing so fast! why the politics never think of tough steps to stop this population explosion.Do these people in power not understand that the ratio of improvement and population increse is the sole imbalancing factor of this country. The result of improvement can only be felt when this primary factor of population control can be done. Why the people of higher merits shall be stoppped to get their just right through quota system!
Suddenly, i came to sense by a side tharash. Someone, young, told - grandpa , you are unmindful. You could met accident, if you walk thisway. Dont mind, i have only adjusted you to take to the right path through light tharash. He smiled and went away.
Now, i am in the factual world and thought, what is my fault that i am not getting my legitimate claim and why these peoples in chairs, paid for the works, so reluctant to do their jobs etc, etc.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now i dont thik anymore, Someday it will be done, that is the only solace for me.
GOD BLESS ALL.

(it is not story, it is fact, narrated by a veteran )

The principle of Health economics in Private Hospital

On 12/04/2010, a severe road accident on E M Bypass, Kolkata took six lives. Two minors in fatal conditions were rushed to the nearby local private Hospital by the public, whom treatment was denied since they ( here public) could not deposit the required money before being admitted. The same public took these seriously injured to another nearby Nursing Home, where also they denied treatment on the same reason and ultimately these two injured minors died without any treatment. This furiated the public and they attacked the Hospital and caused damages to its properties. The police came , tried to pacify the public and after so many further incidents , now the situation is under control. Whatever may be , it is sad that two prescious lives lost which could havebeen saved , had they got timely treatment from any of the Hospital/ Nursing home they approached.
The most vital question is that-wheather these private Hospitals can deny treatment on such emergent situation, only because money could not been deposited prior to admission ! In a civilised country or society, itis never possible and there are laws which also forbids them to do such acts. Then how these private hospitals can do such inhuman acts. It is definite public took these two fatally injured for treatment there, but what caused them to deny treatment for such critical patients ? The Hospital authority may say anything, but the general believe is with the public. Many past cases also strengthen this believe. Govt. must introspect and must be firm to apply law strictly so that such authorities think twice before taking any action in similar cases in future. Hospital can never be a place of sole business, they must be humanitarian in attitude and the principle of health economics must be seen with human touch, sympathy and devotion.

Two hands of legality & illegality

The most populous state in India is West Bengal. The concentration of population per sq. km of land is maximum in W.B compared to other states of India. But what makes this particular state so populous when it is in terms of any developmental works, employment opportunities compared to other states of India. The geographical position of this state is a major fact. The adjoining states of west bengal are Bihar, Jharkand,Orissa, Assam. Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura are all further underdeveloped than West bengal. Peoples are getting education and thereafter trying to get some sort of job/ employment , firstly in their own state for their survival. But without getting any desired occupation in their own state , they eye on this adjoining state and migrating here to sustain themselves and for survival. Again undereducated peoples are also rushing here with the hope to get something or other for the same reason of survival. Automatically such rush of peoples and ultimately settle down here has make this state most populous.
The story is how & where these peoples ultimately settles down! Those educated peoples definitely get something and settle down somewhere in affordable decent way. But the major problem is with these makeshift people who ultimately do not have the capacity to rent house with megre income and take shelter in footh path, canal bank and making shanties in Govt. land.
These peoples are the real hazards for the Govt. and source of all civic disorders in the society.
The entire city of Kolkata is an example of it. Here the footpath is is occupied, the pedestrain cannot use it, here the road flank of major roads occupied, making death trap for the pedestain again. The cars, busses, any vehicles donot find sufficient road space for their movement. The footpath is a business place along with openair bedroom, the drain, bank of River Ganga is toilet.and free water from kolkata corporation has become a beautiful combination of life here.
And the streets of kolkata has become a garbage for them. No sence prevails in these peoples.Due to such activities , the residents under kolkata corporation who pays taxes, are the most deprived ones in terms civic order, they should have got. But these middle class or upper middle class peoples have the unique property of keeping mum and bear all troubles and here starts the fine mixture ofpolitics and its adultaration . Otherwise why all political parties. local administration keep finger crossed in spite of knowing all!
It can be said , these peoples have become organised and gained sufficient strength with the patronage of different political parties. All political parties think of vote bank and these people are a big vote bank for any party whom they would support. Hence there is an unholy competetion of patronising these situation and peoples by all political parties for votes! The Administration is helpless. There is a general feeling amongst these people that anything and everything can be done on Govt. property simply by a holy word "poor" , they will never be touched. The use of the word poor at random by any people and the reality, is different, when honesty. integrity and social cosciousness all combine with other people who are directly hurt Govt. and all political parties must give thoughts to it to prevent an upheaval failure of future.

Alas West bengal-Where are we going !

West bengal has the highest density of population in India. Being a deltaic region it is very fertile and peoples here are mostly agriculture oriented. The economy here depends on agricultural production. Some of the districts here viz. Bankura, Purulia ,arid region and so there nonagriculture land is available. This demarcation of agriculture and nonagriculture land is coming up because Govt. is thinking of setting up industries only on the vision of land perspectives, not on any consideration of the long term benefit and utility of the land as agriculture or non agriculture. Here comes the land politics in West Bengal. Instead of going for a amicable solution in the interest of huge unemployment problem, nessicity of industrial growth for lakhs of unemployed youths, the political parties here have completly politicalised the issue. They have completely forgot that they are here to deliver welfare to the people of the state and not to play power politics. It is extremely unfortunate that almost all parties in west Bengal playing negative politics. The arrogancy, extreme partisan attitude, non neutrality. corruption and rampant greed has encroached in the administration. Never compromise attitude rendering lots of problem. The opposition playing completly negative politics and what is the result. Tata motors has gone. The proposed chemical hub at nandigram uncertain. The infrastructure project ie. Barasat roychak ring road project shelved. And now Infosys & Wipro are not getting land. Why ? because theland thought of tobe given to them have been grabbed by one Resort That too
withoutany knowledge of the Govt. Govt. should be strong enough to get back all these land and book all for such nefarious work. We donot require Resort, we want Infosys, we want
Wipro, the only potential job maker in this market. What shall we say to the future, if we do these things! All parties must introspect andthink in a positive way . This destructive politics must stop.Do something for Bengal, do something for these huge unemployed educated youths.Otherwise future will not forgive any one .

Indian population& dream of development

The world has a population of more than six billions. As per population census in March 2001, the Indian population is more than one billions out of this entire population in this Earth. It is also widely circulated that the worlds most populas country china will fall behind India within 2011.China has effectively implemented their birth control policy which India failed miserably. No effect of development can be realised when the same is not proportionate with the population factor of a country. If the population of any country increases very rapidly then the effect of development bound to lag behind. China realised this factor took effective measure. They are now cherrishing the result of it.India has not been able to achieve much about this vital factor of population control although india being the first country in the world to have a population policy India is over populated. This over population does not depend on the size or density of the population but on the ratio of population to available sustainable resources and its distribution throughout the population. Ideally, the population growth should be such so that available food, shelter and water in the demographic area is enough for indefinite future for the population. This is true only for a closed system where no trade is possible. It is always good to consider this closed system rather than depending on trade etc. How India is being over populated can be assesed on the following statictics .

Crude birth rate in India:- 27/1000 annualy
Life expectancy ;- 62 years
Crude death rate ;- 9/1000 annualy
Rate of natural increse;- 1. 80
Infant mortality rate;- 72/1000
Total fertility ratio;-3.20 (average children born toa woman during her lifetime)

The infant mortality is due to low birth weight, prematurity, malnutrition, diarrhoeal diseases. acute respiratiory infections etc.
This increse in birth rate. decline in mortality rate is due to advanced medical science, is
a direct factor to over population. It is being discussed that since the process of over population starts in the darken hours of night, all houses, huts in the villages of India, shall be lighted by total electrification so that it diminishes that trend. Actually, the major rural India has no other sources of entertainment except this bio-entertainment, contributing to this vast problem. If television, cinema reach there, then a successful campain as well as entertainment can both be made at these points, it is expected that population growth shall be arrested to some extent.Future ahead can only say wheather this theory will work or not.
It is actually education which can really address this problem. When peoples become conscious about their environment, ecological niche, clean water, clean air, food. shelter. warmth and resources , this problem will automatically solve. They will also think about their responsibility towards their newborn and their capacity to grow them up for a decent future.

The Govt. should also take some steps with human touch and if necessary, some firm steps without going for vote bank politics so that this huge problem is solved. Then and then only, a balance of development and population shall be established and the future will be brightened.

Education policy- unveiled

The new education policy as has been proposed by central Govt. is thoughtworthy. Now different states have different policies. The syllabuses of different state boards vary from state
to state. As a result students from different states while appearing for a combined competative
Exam., conducted by Central Govt. or central board or otherwise cannot be much successful
based on their curriculam and syllabuses in stateboard. Those who study under central Board
obiously do better. There should be a uniform syllabus in all India basis and a compulsory link
language of international importance. This is the age of globalisation and our students need to
be developed as per that standard. The second language can be regional as opted by students.
The syllabuses in history, geography, social science etc as varies from region to region should
be properly covered so that regional imbalances do not come up. There should be a single Board
under whom all examinations shall be conducted and certificates awarded. Similarly for all higher educations a single door entry should be made. This will establish a common standard and
corruption can also be avoided.Everything depend on good will and above politics with a bit adjustment of regionalism with Indianism.

lLalgarh- a menace for Westbengal

The problem of Lalgarh has cropped up at this alarming stage due to nonaction by the Govt.

for long. Any problem, when cropped up should be judged carefully and impartially
without any thought of political gain by the Govt. The Govt. should should discuss with all parties and take their help. The local peoples could have been taken to confidence with sympathy and patience hearing. It should be investigated, the money GOVT. spent through
panchayet, whether really been utilised for these peoples or not. Have we ever thought of about what really

A religion means! Religion means realization and nothing short of that. ‘Believe in the doctrine and you are safe’ , can never be believed, as

What you are, is what, you make yourself by your own exertions. Hence only realization can help to get out of this problem.People should be

Educated to understand it,otherwise mere prattle for religious truth, intellectual perorations will lead to often mistakes and ultimately sectarian

Fight, which is being seen as terrorism today.Extreme poverity, unemployment and illiteracy are the main factors which are being exploited by

Opportunists hardcore Religious gurus to promote sectarianism, quarrel and fight. Who can say there is no business in it at all! The ruling party should keep it in mind.
Finally the opposition should be respected which was almost missing here.

Indian Democracy& new Govt.

I congratulate Dr. Manmohon singh for this overwhealming victory. Whatever may be the analysis of political pundits, I strongly believe ,people voted for an educated, cultered, corruptless, strongwilled gentleman who during his last tenure honestly tried
for good of this countrywithin so many odds. I have talked with many senior citizens and they are of the opinions that they cannot remember such high temparature and hotwind in the month of april. Infact, we find, WB
is changing drastically in its climate. It is a fairly hot place and winter also becoming hot here.
But its summer and winter was to a degree, that were tolerable and enjoyable and peoples were used to it. The reasons of such gross changes of weather need to be investigated. If a clear attention is not given by the appropriate authority right at this time, it may be late and we may
have to bear the brunt. I hope Govt. will seriously think over the matter.
